What does a screenshot beautifier actually do?
It takes a plain screenshot and puts it on a background with padding, rounded corners and a soft shadow, so it looks composed rather than pasted. The screenshot itself is untouched. Everything added sits around it, which is why the text inside stays exactly as sharp as it was.
Why do my screenshots look bad in posts?
Two reasons, usually. A raw screenshot has hard edges that clash with the rounded, padded look of a social feed, and it often arrives at an awkward aspect ratio that gets cropped. Adding padding solves both, because you control the final shape and nothing important sits near an edge that might get trimmed.
Does this reduce the quality of my screenshot?
No. The screenshot is drawn at its native resolution and the background is generated around it, so no scaling happens to the pixels you care about. If you export as PNG the result is lossless. JPG and WEBP apply compression to the whole image, so use PNG when the screenshot contains small text.
What size should I export for X or LinkedIn?
16:9 is the safe choice for both, since it matches what the timeline expects and avoids a crop. Use 4:5 for Instagram portrait and 9:16 for a story. Auto keeps whatever shape your padded screenshot came to, which is fine for a blog or documentation.
Can I make the background transparent?
Yes, choose the transparent option and export as PNG or WEBP. You still get the rounded corners and the shadow, just with nothing behind them, which is useful when you are dropping the result into a slide or a design that already has its own background. JPG cannot store transparency, so that option disables it.
What is the browser frame for?
It puts a window bar with the familiar three dots above your screenshot, which makes a cropped screenshot read as a full application window. It is worth using when your screenshot is of a web page and you cropped away the real browser chrome. Skip it for screenshots of a phone, a terminal or a design file, where a browser bar would be misleading.
Are my screenshots uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is drawn in your browser on a canvas element and no file is transmitted. This matters more than usual for screenshots, since they routinely contain dashboards, internal tools, email and customer data. Nothing here leaves your machine.
Can I use this for product launch images?
Yes, that is the main thing people use it for. Export at 16:9 for a post image, or 1200x630 territory for an Open Graph preview. If you need an exact platform size afterwards, run the result through our social media image resizer.
How large a shadow should I use?
Less than you think. A shadow that reads clearly at full size usually looks heavy in a feed where the image is a third of the width. Keep the blur generous and the opacity low, around 25 to 35 percent, and the result stays soft rather than looking like a sticker.
