How to bold text on LinkedIn

Sans bold or serif bold?
Bold Sans (๐๐ผ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ป๐) has no little feet on the letters, like the fonts LinkedIn, X and Instagram use themselves. It looks like native bold text and is the safest choice for posts.
Serif Bold (๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐) has the small strokes you see in newspaper headlines. It stands out more against sans serif text, which works well for a single heading but can feel heavy across several lines.
How to use bold text without hurting your post
- Bold the hook, a section heading or one key phrase. When everything is bold, nothing stands out.
- Keep names, hashtags and anything people might search for in plain text. Search features on social platforms may not match bold Unicode letters to normal ones.
- Screen readers may read bold Unicode letters one by one or skip them. Keep the meaning of your post clear in the plain text.
- Numbers convert to bold too, so bold stats like ๐ฏ๐ฌ๐ฌ% or ๐ญ๐ฌ๐ธ are an easy way to draw the eye.

Why can't I just bold text on LinkedIn or X?
Most social platforms do not offer bold formatting in regular posts, comments or profile fields. Bold Unicode characters are a workaround: the letters themselves are bold, so no formatting is needed.
Does bold text work in Discord?
In Discord messages you can use the built-in formatting by wrapping text in two asterisks. Bold Unicode text is useful where formatting does not work, such as your display name, server nickname and channel names.
Will bold text look the same on every device?
